This afternoon in Central Park, Sony and Petco are partnering up to try to break the Guinness World Record for the most adopted dogs in one place. Oh, and Gavin Degraw is apparently performing too.
The effort is intended to raise awareness about pet adoption, and particularly Petco’s adoption program which, they say, has placed more than 3 million animals in new homes.
The event starts at 4pm near the Naumberg Bandshell in Central Park. Counting begins at 5pm, and in order to be counted, you must have paperwork proving that your doggie was adopted from a shelter/rescue organization.
They’re going to have to gather at least 250 adopted dogs in order to set the record, so if you don’t have to be at work this afternoon, grab your shelter dog and make your way to the park!
This is Sweet Pea, my coworker’s sister’s dog. Originally I had planned to only post profiles of dogs that live in Brooklyn. That’s clearly gone down the tubes. I couldn’t resist this shayna punim. File this under Awww.
If you don't give me ice cream RIGHT NOW, I will leeeeck you
This sweet pup adopted some British troops and helped them sniff out IEDs. Then he was taken by the Taliban. But he was returned unharmed and given his first-ever dog toys! Full story here.
Stories like this always get me. Dogs just want a little love, right?
