Brooklyn’s dog friendly bar scene: you’re invited

Who wants to hit some dog friendly bars this weekend? I’m thinking Mission Dolores, The Gate, and … where else? Tweet, comment, or email me at alison [at] dogfriendlybrooklyn [dot] com if you’re game for a Saturday late afternoon jaunt. Dogs optional, but recommended.

Giant dog noms man in new Pier 6 Brooklyn dog run!

Ok, not really. But isn’t this a funny picture?

om nom nom...

We visited the new dog run at Pier 6 in Brooklyn Bridge Park last night.  Snazzy design, though I don’t know how running on pebbles feels for dogs? Do the rocks get stuck between their paw pads?

Prospect Park ‘Coffee Bark’ tomorrow morning, 7/10

FIDO Brooklyn’s monthly Coffee Bark is taking place tomorrow (Saturday, 7/10) during the park’s morning off-leash hours (they kick-off at 7am).  In their own words:

“As a regular monthly event, Coffee Bark stands as a shining example of all that is great about off-leash recreation in City parks. Over the course of our 2 hour event, many of the hundreds of dogs and their people who take advantage of the Long Meadow, stop by for coffee and chat about the concerns of the day. This is our way of making contact with each and every dog and owner and to let them know what FIDO is all about.”

Errr, not Prospect Park...

The gathering usually takes place on the first Saturday of every month, but was shifted back this month because of the holiday.  You can find the group in the Long Meadow next to the picnic house (here’s a map showing the approximate location).

Tomorrow’s forecast doesn’t look too promising, but the group will be there rain or shine.  I, however, will be hiding under the covers.
